I have been knitting furiously this past week.

The above picture is of one of the neck warmers I have made, this one is for my trendy dressing niece.

I have knitted this with (2 skeins)Lion Brand Boucle` black, and (1 skein)Lion Brand Trellis night life. The pattern is from the Lion Brand website. http://lionbrand.com/

I have so many many things to knit yet for gifts!!!!looks like it will mostly be scarves from here on out.
I am looking forward to reading, and planning camping trips again!

Marty's Scarf Completed..

I just completed Marty's Scarf. Despite a power outage last night..(the weather was Rockin' and Rollin' here in the Pacific Northwest on Thursday night through this morning)I was so glad I had a hurricane lamp!

I think cables make solid color knitting much more interesting to knit! So, cable knitting is definitely going to be part of my knitting life.
I have many mistakes in this scarf, instances where I was knitting into a row that should have been purled, forgetting that I should have been purling after completing a cable section..ohhhhh the list goes on!

The Cable Scarf in Progress (aka Marty's Scarf)

This is knit from Lion Brand Wool-Ease Worsted Wt. Cranberry.

The pattern is from the book mentioned in Thursdays post: Cables Untangled: it is called the "his/hers reversible scarf".

It took me 7 froggings to get this finally right. Switching from the smaller to the larger needles and using the cable needle kept throwing me off!! I didn't lose it! NO gritting of teeth or throwing balls of yarn across the room, and am quite pleased.

This pattern suggests #7 & 9 straight needles, I couldn't find mine, so used #8 & #10 us. I think I kept my patience because it was at the beginning when I messed up most times.

I am going to call it Marty's Scarf. Marty, my nephew will be celebrating a birthday a few days before Christmas. I always feel bad because I forget about his birthday most years, concentrating on gifts for Christmas. He turns 36, this year! I think? YIKES!

I am pondering a scarf of cables

I feel ready for cables. My interest in cables have been spurred by the book Cables Untangled: an Exploration of Cable knitting c.2006 by Melissa Leapman.
This book has beautiful cable patterns! Some sweaters that are just too cable busy for my taste. The afghan, blankets, and other projects are beautiful! Pages of photos of fantastic cable pattern samples that a imagination could think up.

I will start one of the scarfs from this book. Maybe tonight. I have been advised to enlarge the pattern, reading the chart being a little different than the normal written instructions.
The scarf I have been knitting out of Lion Brand Mystery, is just not feeling right. I will finish it tonight and set it aside. Maybe, when I look at it again I will find it OK.
