I'm in the middle of a WIP

I am starting on the sleeves. The pattern is from Fall 2005 Interweave Knits, the Drop-Stitch Cardigan. I have been working on this project off and on. I even took it camping with me this fall, At this point I am still enthused about this project. The yarn is so soft! Moda-Dea Cartwheel color Hazy. An italian imported wool.


Tippy the cat is really trying my patience! Constantly attacking the yarn as I am working. One moment I am in the groove, the rythym then next? A downward pull on the yarn as Tippy the cat latches on to the yarn!

We went camping on Super Bowl Sunday!

We didn't go to the casino. We went to Manchester State Park.

We had a great overnighter. Went for a 4 mile round trip hike. Curled up and watched Abbott & Costello Meet the Invisible Man.

The town of Manchester, WA was originally called Brooklyn. The town changed its name to Manchester, sure that they would become a major port like Manchester, England. Manchester State Park, was originally a military outpost to protect Bremerton Naval Shipyard & Navy Base. There was a Torpedo Warehouse that became officers quarters, that still stands today as a picnic shelter in the park. The Mining Casement operated from 1900-1910.

OK, enough is ENOUGH on this cold nasty weather we have been having!

The dismal weather we have been having is good for reading, knitting projects and maybe thinking of snowshoeing BUT I am ready for camping season!

We camped 21 nights in our new Orbit in 2007, of course we just started camping with it in October 2007, so I guess that is still good.

I am set on going on a quick get-a-way ASAP!How 'bout the Little Creek Casino in Shelton? Where did that come from? I honestly don't know. You see, I am not a gambler and I prefer trees and quiet when I am camping actually, but it came to me in a brainstorm tonight. Why not? My 86 year old mom loves going to Little Creek, my adult daughter thought it would be fun also.

I called the casino resort to see if they had hookups in their parking lot. nada. So now I am not so sure that this is a good idea. Mom has bowed out on the idea since there are no hookups. Hookups to offset potentially cold evenings in the 20's would make it more viable. I have 2 batteries and 2 propane tanks, so maybe I am being a whimp?! After all, this is only going to be an overnighter~ Rhian & I were maybe going to spend $20 to gamble, try out their highly rated buffet, then head back to the camper, read and watch movies.

I'll report the whole episode if this actually happens. There won't be any movies though, Rhian's laptop won't last long enough on a charge I don't think.

I haven't been active for awhile

I have had a sad fall & Christmas. My sister Gloria aka Sis was fighting her last bout with breast cancer. December 14th 2007 we lost her.

We celebrated her life with Elvis music and some her favorite foods with family and friends on December 29, 2007.

New adventures in camping this fall! a new camper

Fall camping is the best!!! Plus, we feel like we are in luxury not to have to deal with hauling items back and forth.

We don't regret any of our adventures in our popup, we are just going to be sleeping in a little more comfort, with less time setting up.

Sunsets and walking the beach were wonderful pastimes last week! Grayland Beach will be on our list of top Washington State Parks.

It's been a while. We had a good summer

First campout, in June, we stayed in Eastern WA, at Potholes State Park. The park is a lovely park with great access to the Potholes Resevoir

This photo was taken at the Soda Creek primitive campground in the Columbia Wildlife Refuge. The ditches or potholes filled with water, are a interesting geographic feature of this area of otherwise desert.

The mosquitoes were horrible at Potholes. We have never had problems with mosquitoes camping in Washington, whether Eastern or Western until we camped at Potholes!

Camping is on my mind.

My husband brought this gem home to me the other day.

It is a 1974 Camper's Digest.

Popup's or Folding Tent Trailers are dear to my heart.

While browsing through this digest, I had flashbacks when seeing pictures of truck campers! I could have actually been one of the kids pictured camping with their families in truck campers that year!

Every summer, my dad's work closed for 2 weeks of vacation.

We had sisters in Pensacola, FL, Uncles in South Dakota, Cousins in Nebraska, Aunts in Montana, Sisters in Tennessee, Sisters in Louisiana, Aunts in California, Uncles in Texas, Sisters in Washington D.C., Sisters in Ohio. This of course was not all at one time.

Starting out, too young to remember, some of these relatives were visited in the '55 Chevy, camping accomodations a Sears Roebuck tent. This was with 5 kids. Later, there was a VW bus. By the mid 1960's my parents bought a Chevy truck and Security Camper package. By then, there were just 3 of us kids left at home.

My mom has kept some of the messages we used to post on the window between the cab of the truck and the camper. "Can we stay where there is a pool tonight?" "Can we get a hamburger?" "How much longer until we get there?"
